Hilleman Laboratories is a global entity founded by Merck and Wellcome Trust focused on fighting disease in developing countries. One of the key goals was to promote trust between the founding companies and their regional constituents. The decorative feel of the star  design solution speaks to the cultural sensibilities of the mostly Asian and African countries it serves.
We created a logo that evokes partner interaction, scientific innovation and above all approachability to its end users. As one of Merck’s scientists working on the project described it, the flower-like symbol is “soothing”.
